The Category Configuration section is where you define how merchandising rules apply to your product collections.
Purpose:
To set up product-level adjustments for specific categories or collections in your Shopify store.
How it Works:
Each category represents a collection of products within your store (e.g., “Summer Sale,” “Men’s Footwear,” or “Accessories”).
You can configure different merchandising rules per category based on marketing priorities or product strategy.
These configurations help you reorder or hide products without editing the collection directly in Shopify.
Fields:
Category: The name of the collection to which the rule applies.
Channel: Select the platform or storefront view (e.g., Web, Mobile) where the configuration should be active.
Total in Collection: Displays the total number of products currently indexed in that category.
Use Case Example:
You can set a “New Arrivals” category to automatically display the newest products at the top and hide discontinued items from view.
