Purpose:
To define how merchandising rules are applied to specific search queries within your store’s search results.
How it Works:
Search configurations let you create targeted rules for keywords or phrases commonly entered by customers. Each rule determines how certain products behave — whether they appear at the top, are deprioritized, or hidden entirely for that search query.
You can also specify whether a rule applies only to exact matches or to broader, related search terms.
Key Fields:
Search: The search term or keyword to which the merchandising rule applies (e.g., “sneakers,” “laptop bag”).
Exact: Determines whether the rule triggers for exact matches only, or for similar or related search queries.
Example: An exact rule for “red shoes” will only apply when the user searches for that phrase exactly, while a non-exact rule might apply for “shoes” or “red footwear.”
Usage Example:
You can create a rule for the term “gift set” that automatically promotes bundled products to the top while hiding single items not part of a set.
Benefits:
Enables precise control over product ranking for high-volume keywords.
Helps ensure seasonal or campaign-specific products are prioritized in search.
Prevents unrelated or outdated products from appearing in critical searches.
